Set up Skype for EXCHANGE.TAMU.EDU

  1. Click on the tool cog in the upper right hand corner.
  2. Under the Personal tab change your sign-in address to  <YourNetID>@tamu.edu.
  3. Click on the Advanced button and make sure that it is set to Automatic configuration.
  4. You should get a message saying changes won’t take effect until you sign out, so sign out. You do this with the status drop-down menu.
  5. Click the Sign In button and Lync will prompt for a password. This is your NetID password. Make sure you check Save my password.
  6. If you can not get in, test your NetID (without the “@tamu.edu”) and password by going to the howdy.tamu.edu page. If this works you may not have a Lync account. Please open an SDP request to check your account.
  7. Note: Your contacts will not be copied over. You’ll have to bebuild the list.
  8. Note: If you want people to see your status without them being on your contact list click on the tool cog again, select the Status tab and choose “I want everyone to be able to see my presence” and then click Ok. Others will have to do the same for you to see their status.
