Creating a web page

  1. Log into your website's Kentico Admin Dashboard.
    (Use <sitename>.tamu.edu/admin to go to the dashboard page)

  2. From the 'Dashboard' webpage follow the steps listed in the below figure to access the content tree.

    'Pages' webpage has the content tree on left as highlighted in the below figure.

  3. Choose a place in the Content tree where you want your new page to be located in the structure of your website; and then click on '+' sign.

    For example, if you want to add a new page under Services tab then click on Services link first and then click on the '+' icon.

  4. On the right side in the editing/viewing space, you should see the types of documents you are allowed to create in the chosen location.

    Click the 'Page (menu item)' option.

  5. Follow the steps as shown in the below figure.

  6. Now you can see the new ‘IT Consulting’ page added to the content tree under the ‘Services’ tab.

    Add the content which you would like to see on this page in your editable fields – in this case, do so on the editing space in the header text & content text editable fields and then click ‘Save’ to save the content on this page.

    Click on 'Preview' to see the page in preview mode.

  7. In 'Preview' mode, you can check how the page looks when its published and review the content. When the content looks okay, click on Edit to access the check in button.

    After clicking Edit, you can also make any additional changes if you want to.

  8. After finalizing the content, click on 'Check in' button to check in the changes.

  9. Click on 'Publish' to publish the new page to your site.


     

Editing page content

  1. Now we will edit the content of the newly created page.

    Click on the page you want to edit in the content tree on the left. In this example we will choose the 'IT Consulting' page. On the right side in the editing/viewing space, you can see its content.

    Click on 'Check out' button to check out the page so that it can be edited.

  2. As we have used the template with two editable regions – header text and content text, we are now able to edit the information in these regions. Follow the steps as shown in the below figure.

  3. Click on 'Publish' to see the ‘IT Consulting’ page with the updated content on the live site.
